Using Survey Software to Develop a Self-Paced Learning Tool for Histology and Anatomic Pathology

Self-paced learning tools can be a powerful way to help students make interdisciplinary connections and integrate the basic and clinical sciences. Learning tools are available on a variety of platforms, and can be accessed at any time, so students can make the most of their time. In addition, they are generally self-paced, and can help reduce contact hours in the medical curriculum.

The current project was designed to develop a self-paced learning tool to enhance integration of histology and anatomic pathology. The tool was developed using survey software, and was made available online. As part of the process, 171 participants were contacted via email, social media, or other means to complete an online survey. This data was collected over a 2-month period.
